Tuesday is the day Santa Fe voters go to the polls to decide if a soda tax hike proposed by Mayor Javier Gonzales will become law. Gonzales proposed the tax increase to help pay for early childhood education. But many residents oppose the tax and there’s been a battle between both sides in the weeks leading up to Tuesday’s vote.
The tax will add another 2 cents for every ounce of any sugary drink. Tuesday’s election will cost Santa Fe $85,000. there will be eight voting sites open.
