Fire Season Concerns

Warm, dry conditions have New Mexico officials concerned about this year’s fire season. Meteorologist Rich Naden with the Southwest Coordination Center says conditions are getting worse in the Sandia and Manzano Mountains but some significant rainfall is expected over the next few weeks, easing the fire danger. Naden says half the wildfires in the Southwest are human-caused, the other half are sparked by lightning.
