In Santa Fe, Senate Majority Leader Peter Wirth says Governor Martinez is in denial about New Mexico’s financial problems. That after the Governor vetoed $350 million in tax increases and also cut hundreds of millions of dollars in funding for colleges and universities. Wirth says Martinez is playing extreme political games.
The Governor, meanwhile, called the Legislature’s actions “reckless.” She says, in the coming weeks, she’ll call a special legislative session to balance the budget.
