More people are traveling by air these days. The Federal Government says air travel last year was at record levels. At the Sunport, passenger numbers were up slightly- 0.6%. Spokesman Dan Jiron says that was the first time in years that the Sunport saw more fliers.
And it seems to be continuing this year. Jiron says there’s been a 2% increase in passenger numbers through the first two months of the year.
Nationally, Southwest Airlines carried the most passengers on domestic flights. At the Sunport, Jiron says Southwest accounts for just over half of the passenger traffic.
