In Santa Fe, a House committee has advanced a bill that would open New Mexico’s Primary Elections to everyone- not just Republicans and Democrats. Those backing the bill say it would increase voter turnout, which is usually low for the Primaries.
Just last week the New Mexico Supreme Court upheld the State’s current closed primary system- rejecting an attempt to open the Primaries to independent voters.
