Looming Budget Crunch

The budget cutting isn’t over in New Mexico. Senator John Arthur Smith, the Chairman of the Legislative Finance Committee, says when lawmakers convene in Santa Fe next month, they may have to cut spending in the current fiscal year by more than $200 million. Smith says revenue is in a free-fall in the state.
Smith tells News Radio KKOB there was a recent one-month increase in gross receipts revenues but that may have been an anomaly.
