Pets of the Week | December 10

Our shelter is filling up again and it is just so sad to see so many great dogs of different ages, sizes and breeds without a home and family. Most of them are there at no fault of theirs. Some reasons are very valid like families moving/deployed, divorce, and so on. Sometimes people just are not ready for the time, energy and cost needed to have a lifetime companion. Our fondest wish would be to have more empty kennels than occupied kennels and helping find perfect matches for our dogs and those in our community ready for another or first time companion. They all would love to have safe, secure, warm loving homes starting this holiday season with many more to come. One very, very important reminder we would like to make is that it is NEVER a good idea to get a pet as a gift, Christmas or otherwise. We each have different ideas what that perfect pet is. We have staff and volunteers on hand to help you find a companion to fit your lifestyle, housing situation etc. Wrap up a leash, maybe some treats along with one of our gift certificates. Then make a date to bring your family member in and let them pick out their forever companion. Just after the Holidays is one of our busiest and saddest times because pets that were given as gifts are surrendered because the person receiving the gift never wanted one or does not have the means to take care of it for 15 or so years. Please see below info on Gift Certificates.

KENT (ID# 1751500) IS A 1 YEAR & 1 MONTH OLD, MALE RED & WHITE AMERICAN PIT BULL TERRIER MIX WEIGHING 55 POUNDS.

kent

◊          Kent is a gentle “soft” somewhat shy guy. Give him a little extra time to get to know you and he will be a true best friend kind of dog.

◊          Need someone to walk with? How about Kent? He would love to be your partner walking around the neighborhood.

Everyone will notice what a handsome boy he is.

◊          Kent is a good boy on leash. With some conditioning he could be your easy hiking buddy too.

A walk along the river, you bet. He loves to sniff along the way.

◊          Kent was very shy when he came in stray. Lost from you home all alone can be very scary. He has made lots of new BFF’s here at AWD.

He says kindness and sweet talk are just the best things ever.

◊          He’d do best in a calmer quiet home. One where pets are “family” and get to spend most of their time with their people!

He’d love to be your “shadow” following you from room to room. Do you work from home and need someone to bounce ideas off of?

Kent’s a great listener.

◊          Kent is willing and able and especially hoping that you will take a shine to him and bring him to your comfy home where you will be a great team.

☺        Kent says “treat me gently & I’ll love you forever!” “I’m ready to go home for the holidays & be your Fur-ever companion.”

“I’d love to have my very own stocking filled with treats hung by the fireplace.”  “Come in to meet me at the Eastside.”
