It will be 10 years next month since Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Deputy James McGrane Jr. was murdered in the line of duty. He was shot and killed on March 22, 2006. From that moment, Deputy McGrane’s parents, Jim and Rita McGrane, decided to turn their personal family tragedy into a positive. Jim and Rita created the Deputy James McGrane Officer Street Survival Training Program to help law enforcement officers across the New Mexico. One of the annual fundraisers is a pancake breakfast that is coming up this weekend. Flap jacks will be served this Sunday, February 21st, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Elk’s Lodge at 2430 Centre SE in Albuquerque. These are homemade pancakes made by Rita.
