University of Missouri President Tim Wolfe is a coward. He resigned this week because a group of black students protested, football players threatened to quit a grad student went on a “hunger” strike. All because of perceived racists acts that occurred on campus. Tim Wolfe relented to pressure, caved and became a sacrificial lamb for this incident. Blame also goes to Missouri head football Gary Pinkel, who encouraged his players to quit over this occurrence and boycott practice and games until Wolfe resigned. Wolfe should have fired Pinkel over this display and should have stood his ground over this, but in the end Wolfe showed his true colors and quit with his tail between his legs. Because of these attacks Wolfe’s career was probably over anyway, he could have at least fought and made them fire him. In the end we have a group of whining students, doing what amounts to holding their breath, till their face turns blue to get what they want. What lesson was learned here? Childlike behavior is not only rewarded in our society now, but celebrated.
