This weekend Donald Trump will host SNL. This is not a first he did it before in 2004, promoting the Apprentice on NBC, but this time it is in a much different capacity, he is not promoting a show he is promoting himself. For a man, who has made billions selling, what he has in front of him is now is quite the project he must sell himself to the American public. So far so good, for Trump he has been leading in polls for months now, but this week we are beginning to see some crack in the Trump armor. Ben Carson is now taken a lead in some polls, particularly in Iowa. So this opportunity for Trump could not come at a better time, to make another splash on SNL. This has been going on for a while now, ever since Richard Nixon appeared on “Laugh In” in the 1960’s the American public has wanted to see our political figures humanized. But this could be a tricky situation for Trump, if he is not very good at hosting he will ripped by the pundits if he is too good then he will be written off as just an entertainer. The guy who could benefit the most from an SNL appearance would probably be Ben Carson, who even though he is surging in the polls, the public needs to see a more humanized side of him. Carson’s time may come on SNL, but for now it is Trump race to win or lose, and great appearance could make or break his race.
