Sweet shy Bethy our Dachshund mix and Josephina our friendly white fox terrier are still available at our Eastside shelter. They would love to go home this long holiday weekend with that extra time you will have to help them get to know you and their new home.
Fiona (ID#A 1722824) is a 3 year old, female black & white Labrador Retriever mix. She weighs 57 pounds. This girl is very smart and has lots of energy typical of her breed. She will need an active home with daily walks, hikes or jogs. We feel every dog benefits from the free training class that comes with your adoption and Fiona will be a star pupil already knowing the cues for sit, down and she shakes left and right paws. Training classes are so beneficial to the bonding process with your new companion and with this girl teaching her things helps focus her energy. You’ll notice in her picture she is giving a high five to our volunteer. Fiona is a very sweet and affectionate girl too. She loves to be loved. Fiona has attended our larger dog play groups and we have found her to be a rowdy girl. She may not have had much experience or an opportunity to play with other dogs. She can be a bit pushy. She did fairly well with our play group greeters that have lots of doggie social skills and play experience. Fiona might do best with a dog that has good doggie social skills rather than one rowdy and inexperienced like her. To make sure Fiona is a good fit if you have another dog just bring your present fur-kid in for a meet and greet with Fiona. Of course Fiona would be thrilled to be your one and only. Fiona is a popular dog for our volunteers to walk. The guys think she is fun and love her energy and the gals are impressed with her smarts and how sweet and loving she is. If Fiona could be your next forever companion you will find her at the Eastside shelter in our building A.
Tina (ID# A 1722369) is a very sweet 7 year old, female reddish tan smooth coated Chihuahua mix. She is small weighing 9 pounds. She is an older girl so children over 12 would be best. She also would be a great companion for a mature person. She loves to take walks and is nice on leash. We talked about her kennel mate Lucky a couple weeks ago. They are still together and really enjoy curling up in the dog bed, taking walks together or small dog play group time. So, if you have room for two here is a built in perfect duo. Lucky & Tina walk well together and enjoy easy paced walks. Tina loves laps and will share politely especially with Lucky. She is a gentle girl looking for a calmer gentle home. You will find Tina at our Eastside in our second building B.
In Observance of Labor Day
Albuquerque Animal Welfare Eastside and Westside shelters will be closed on Sunday, September 6, and Monday, September 7, except for the intake desk and reclaims which will be open both days. Credit cards will not be accepted for reclaims on those two days. The shelters will resume services on Tuesday, September 8.
Lucky Paws adoption center located in Coronado Mall near Kohl’s will remain open during regular store hours:
Sunday, September 6– Noon to 6:00 p.m.
Monday, September 7 – 11:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
