Pets of the Week | Aug 22

Saturday is THE DAY!  That evening is the 11th annual Mayor and First Lady’s Dog Ball 2015. Desiree Cawley our marketing director extraordinaire has been working long hours (sleeping little) along with Vickie Fisher of Kennel Kompadres to make this event the best one yet. We are very excited about your new sponsor the Walther Family Law.  If you have not purchased your tickets yet you may purchase them at the door. The event is located at Embassy Suites Hotel, 1000 Woodward Place NE. The evening will start with Yappy Hour at 5:30.  This is always a fun and exciting evening spent raising money for our shelter animals and getting to know so many people that care for, work with and just plain love dogs!

Both of our little guys from last week are still available and would love to attend the ball with you. Just come to the Eastside shelter to meet dog friendly people loving Maxwell and sweet gentle Ariel.

We are featuring to boys today. A little guy that loves people little and big as well as small dog play group and his pretty little kennel mate. If larger is more to you liking then we have a gorgeous boy to take along on long walks, hikes or jogs in the foothills or along the river.

Lucky (ID# A 1540629) is a spunky 10 year old, male tan Smooth Coated Chihuahua mix. He weighs only 8 pounds but has a large fun personality. He is dog friendly and enjoys our small dog play groups. He especially loves to play with his kennel mate a sweet little 7 year old female Chihuahua named Tina. Our small dog play group ladies say they are the sweetest, friendliest cuddle bugs too. They share laps without any jealousy. When it is time to go back to the kennel Lucky waits for Tina to be leashed while politely sitting to be leashed and accompany her back. Lucky loves to take daily walks and is great on leash. Our staff and volunteers describe Lucky as mellow and easy going. Lucky is a family friendly dog but please keep in mind that these little guys need someone to be gentle handling him. He thoroughly enjoys lap time curling up for some well deserved attention. He has a little stuffed blue elephant that is his favorite toy and snuggle companion. He has unusual markings with a tan topcoat and darker shorter fur and freckles along his belly and inner legs. This sweet older boy is hoping his name is true and he is lucky enough to find a forever home this weekend. Come meet this friendly sweet Lucky boy at our Eastside shelter. Perhaps you have a heart and home big enough for too…Tina would love to go home with Lucky.

Clifford (ID# A 1722584) is a 5 year old, male red & white Australian Shepherd mix. He is a larger taller boy weighing 67 pounds. Clifford is a real beauty with some energy.  He loves to take daily walks and always has a happy face. Like most of our shelter dogs he is good on leash after his initial excitement with it being his turn to get out. He would also be a great hiking or running companion. Due to Clifford’s activity level and size he’d do best with children 8 and over. Clifford reminds me of a dog I grew up with that accompanied me on a short hike every day after homework. He would be a great best friend for a teenager or an adult. Clifford is one of our “potty brigade” dogs so with some patience and someone helping him learn his new homes routine house training should go well.  He has a beautiful coat that he keeps very clean. Clifford seems to be inexperienced around other dogs so if you have another you will need to bring him/her in for a meet and greet. He is a super boy that loves attention and is eager to please so being an only dog would suit him just fine. Clifford is in our building A just inside the door at our Eastside shelter and eager to find his forever home. If he is not in his kennel then one of our volunteers has him out for a walk…he is a favorite of ours.
