America held hostage… that was the name given to ABC’s new late night news program that later became Night Line. Every night viewers would get the latest on any new information about the Americans who would be held hostage in Iran from November 1979 to January 1981. It appears America is held hostage again–this time by our own government. As Secretary of State John Kerry led the US negotiations in Austria for the Iranian Nuclear deal I can’t help to think that he and the Obama administration have sold us down the river again. Maybe this administration and most of America has forgotten about what happened in November of 1979 as the Shah of Iran was overthrown and 52 US citizens were held hostage for 444 days in Iran. The Iranians cannot be trusted and John Kerry and Barack Obama have decided to just take the Iranians word for it, that they will be responsible with their new nuclear program. For Barack Obama this is a gift to the Middle East and the notoriously unfriendly nation of Iran, a nuclear program that threatens Israel, the U.S. and the rest of the world. Iran did not take the US seriously until we elected a cowboy who meant we were back in business with Ronald Reagan, the 52 American hostages were released within minutes of President Reagan’s inauguration January 20, 1981. I doubt Iran will take us seriously again until we elect another strong President, until then let’s hope the Republicans rip the deal apart in the House and Senate before Iran has the capabilities to make their own big bomb.
