PHOENIX WOMAN SOUGHT IN GALLUP-AREA KILLING

GALLUP, N.M. (AP) New Mexico authorities are seeking a 21-year-old Phoenix woman in the killing of a Gallup-area woman during a July fight. The Gallup Independent reports that a warrant issued Nov. 20 charges Savona James with second-degree murder in the death of 35-year-old Kimberly Yazzie of Iyanbito.

Yazzie was found dead July 4 inside a tent in a transient camp near Interstate 40. The state Office of the Medical Examiner said Yazzie died from blunt-force trauma to the head and that video recorded by a spectator showed James kicking Yazzie in the head.

James is described as an American Indian with brown eyes and brown hair, about 5-foot-9 and 160 pounds.
