We are happy to report that sweet Suede was adopted and Cooper is on his way to Colorado, hooray!
The two dogs we are featuring this week may prove the saying that “blondes have more fun”. They have beautiful blonde fur & golden eyes, are fun loving, fun to be with and will bring much joy and lots of smiles to their adoptive parents.
Oscar (ID# A 1692202) is a 1 year & 1 month old, male, golden blonde Labrador Retriever and Chinese Sharpei mix. He weighs 63.8 pounds. Oscar has the cutest fold over ears hence the guess he might have some Sharpei in the mix. He acts very much the young energetic Labrador. Oscar is an energetic dog that would love an active family. He loves his daily walks, most likely would be an excellent hiking partner or jogging partner. Like most young dogs cooped up in our shelter he is very anxious to get out and be with people. He could use a bit of practice on leash so remember those free training classes that accompany your adoption. We have noticed with time out he improves on leash. Most likely when in a home where he gets daily walks, attention and some play he will mellow just a bit. Oscar just loves to attend our doggie play groups. He can play on the rowdy side. Sometimes he is a bit clumsy bowling into the other dogs during play. He has been very tolerant of the other rowdy or mouthy players. Oscar is playful with people too. You will see in his picture he is a very handsome dog. He should do well with children. Perhaps very young ones might be a bit frightened of his energy or when he jumps up on them or knocking them over during play. I grew up with a dog that looks and acts exactly like Oscar. When I was very young he often knocked me over but we were best of friends taking hikes, playing in the yard and then lying on the ground resting or cuddling. Oscar is a very affectionate boy. He will shower you with kisses. He is very smart and eager to please. He already knows the cue for sit very well. During play he will come up to a person and present a sit directly in front of you for a treat. He would love to learn new tricks along with you. He is a tall lanky dog so his family will need to make sure their yard has a high wall and gate. This very friendly happy fellow will make a wonderful forever companion. When I spend time with him I so fondly remember my very best friend growing up, they could be twins. Could Oscar be your perfect match? He is located at our Eastside shelter.
Sandy (ID# A 1692629) is a 10 month old, female blonde & white, Pit Bull Terrier mix. Sandy weighs 45.4 pounds. Just look at her lovely picture. How could you not fall in love with this sweet girl? She has the prettiest golden eyes lined in black. Who knows what her breed mix really is. When you meet her in person you will see she looks very little like a pit bull terrier. She is a great compact size, a bit of a low rider and has a very sweet soft face. Sandy is a real cuddle bug, very affectionate. She loves to take walks and is quite good on leash for a puppy. She tends to walk a bit underfoot. She already knows the cue for sit but would love to attend the training class with you. We think she could be a star pupil. This is a great opportunity to help the initial bonding with your new companion. Sandy was a bit shy when she participated in her first doggie play group. Perhaps she never had the opportunity to socialize with other dogs before. She has such a gentle yet playful demeanor in play group that she has become one of our play group greeters. Just this week she came to play group with three extremely shy inexperienced dogs. We are always amazed watching dogs teach and encourage other dogs. She has a knack being able to get the other dogs to trust her quickly and respond to her gentle play encouragement. She is a delightful girl. We just can not believe when she became lost no one came looking for this puppy. Although a puppy she is not bouncing off the walls with wild exuberance. She is a little on the mellow side. Of course she enjoys playing with dogs and people but she also enjoys curling up with head in lap (more if you allow) and being your constant companion. She would be perfectly happy being your little shadow following you around the house sharing in activities or even accompanying you to work. Little Sandy is located at our Eastside shelter.
