FAMILY DISPUTES POLICE ACCOUNT OF KILLING

The family of a man who was fatally shot by Albuquerque police is disputing Police Chief Gorden Eden's claims that the man had a gun and shot at officers. Tammy Redwine said Wednesday that her 30-year-old brother, Alfred “Lionel'' Redwine, only had a cellphone when officers fired multiple shots at him late Tuesday. Redwine died Wednesday morning. Police aren't confirming the man's identity, but Eden says officers opened fire after they received a 911 call about a man pointing a gun at a juvenile. Albuquerque police are facing scrutiny over 36 other police shootings since 2010, including the fatal shooting of a homeless man earlier this month in the Sandia foothills.
