MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO MURDER IN CAR CHASE

LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) A Las Cruces man faces 20 years in prison for chasing several men and shooting two of them, including one fatally, after his car was vandalized. The Las Cruces Sun-News reports 23-year-old Jeremy R. Martinez pleaded guilty in December to second-degree murder and other charges in the April 2012 incident.

Martinez was originally charged with first-degree murder but that charge was reduced to second-degree murder under a plea agreement with prosecutors.

Police said the vandalism to Martinez's car stemmed from a dispute or altercation of some kind between Martinez and a friend of 19-year-old Michael Hahn, the man who died from a shot to his neck.

Martinez was sentenced Monday in state District Court.
