FORMER BERNALILLO COUNTY WORKER ACCUSED OF FRAUD

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) A former Bernalillo County employee is accused of using county vehicle fuel cards to steal up to $6,500 worth of gasoline. A complaint charging 32-year-old Nicholas J. Jones with fraud and other crimes says Jones acknowledged racking up fuel charges more than 120 times.

Jones appeared in court on Sunday after being arrested Friday. A judge reduced his bail from $335,000 to $50,000 but Jones says he needs it even lower. He says he has a drug problem.

Jones was fired on March 2. County Public Information Director Tia Bland said Jones worked for the county for at least five years.
