New Mexico's state parks are hosting a series of four marathons this spring. The marathons are scheduled May 8 at Sugarite Canyon State Park near Raton, May 9 at Eagle Nest State Park, May 10 at Ute Lake State Park near Logan and May 11 at Conchas Lake State Park near Tucumcari. This is the first year for the races, which will include a half-marathon and 5-kilometer run at each event. A Las Cruces company is organizing the races, and the State Parks Division says it will receive a share of the revenue to cover day-use fees for the runners. Race finishers will receive a T-shirt and medal. Runners will get a special four-day finishers medal if they participate in any combination of races at all of the parks.
