SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) The New Mexico Medical Board says high public interest is forcing it to postpone a scheduled hearing on proposed new rules for providers who certify patients to use medical marijuana. The board planned to hold the hearing Friday but says it now must set a new date.
It says that's because the hearing was scheduled in a room that can accommodate only up to 100 people but that it now expects up to 400 people to attend. The board says it will provide at least 30 days of advance notice of the new hearing date.
The proposed new rules include requiring providers to consult with a patient's other medical providers and requiring a periodic re-diagnosis of conditions warranting medical marijuana use.
