CLOVIS, N.M. (AP) Arrest warrants have been issued for a Mexican couple who allegedly led a ring that fraudulently obtained New Mexico driver's licenses for hundreds of people living outside the United States. According to the Albuquerque Journal, District Attorney Matthew Chandler of Clovis says 53-year-old Luis Raul Collazo-Medrano and his wife, Olivia Campos, may have returned to Mexico but also have ties to Texas, Louisiana and Ohio.
Meanwhile, a 38-year-old Portales woman has become the fifth person to plead guilty in the New Mexico case. Veronica Diaz pleaded guilty Monday to 47 counts of forgery and other crimes.
A judge suspended her 70-year prison sentence and placed her on five years of supervised probation after Diaz agreed to testify in the case.
