ALBUQUERQUE UNION TO APPEAL OFFICER’S FIRING

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) The Albuquerque police union will appeal the firing of an officer fired, reportedly for allegedly violating the department's social media policy. According to KRQE, the department won't say why Officer Dawne Roberto was terminated. However, her lawyer says she was let go for allegedly being untruthful and violating the social media policy.

Roberto previously had ties to a blog that criticized department officials and Mayor Richard Berry's administration, but lawyer John D'Amato says Roberto cut all ties with the blog two years ago.

The policy was established two years ago after officer Trey Economidy listed his occupation on Facebook as “human waste disposal.'' Economidy was suspended for those comments.
