ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) An accusation that it violated New Mexico's open meeting law is prompting the state Game Commission to vote over on whether to oppose proposed federal legislation. The New Mexico Wildlife Federation says the commission violated the meeting law during a May 23 meeting in Roswell because the issue was not included on the agenda.
The commission voted to oppose legislation to transfer Valles Caldera management to the National Park Service, and Wildlife Federation spokesman Joel Gay says supporters would have testified if the issue was on the May 23 agenda.
Commission Chairman Game Scott Bidegain told the Albuquerque Journal that he acted in good faith because he believed that the vote was an emergency under the meetings law.
The commission will vote again during an Aug. 22 meeting.
