LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) A water utility serving two southern New Mexico communities is struggling to upgrade a system that has experienced outages that cause trouble for customers in recent weeks. The Las Cruces Sun News reports that three of the system's 10 wells serving Sunland Park and Santa Teresa failed in the past month, including one that failed two times.
The failures of the 30- and 40-year-old wells resulted in low water pressure for residents and businesses. Interim Dona Ana County Manager Sue Padilla says the Camino Real Regional Water Utility is working hard to prevent more problems.
